Our first game after relegation to division 4 couldn’t have gone any better!
Last season was the toughest we’ve faced in a long time so to get off to such a flying start was excellent, particularly after some of our new signings who played Division 4 last season suggested Rovers would be would be a tough test.
The new look Manics Reserves though made short work of the home side in their smart new TravelWasp.com sponsored kit.
Aaron Goddard (pictured) opened the scoring direct from a corner as Manics stormed to a 3-0 half time lead with further goals from Gareth Evans and Craig Parsons.
The second half was much more evenly matched as a contest but despite Rovers clawing one back after a long free kick was dropped over the line by Manics ‘keeper Ash James, Manics went on to score three more with Ashley Deutrom and Matty Walshe scoring identical cross/goals and Colin Pike adding one for himself.
Manager Brian Judge said: “I am delighted with the result and the performance, but there are still areas we can improve, and we still have a number of players to come back and compete for places.”
