Unbeaten Run Continues with Win Over BMW
Bracknell Manics went out to fight for a top 3 spot in a league game against BMW this weekend.
With players injured, or unable to play, Bracknell Manics had another different line up again for the third week running. Andy Impey made his appearance in the goal, with Jams Blackman as left back, Ryan Millward and David Fenton in the centre, and Lee Wilcox made his second appearance back on the pitch as right back. Joel Curran played on the left and Glenn Evans on the right, with Elliott Fairs and Gary Sarney in the midfield. Alan Morris and David Comper would be the pair up front. Brian Judge, Chris Wilson, Tony Hemley and Aaron Goddard would fill the bench.
Both teams went off to a good start, but BMW went ahead after 20 minutes of play. A clearance was deflected by another BMW player. The winger outpaced James Blackman and ran onto the ball, despite calls for offside, the referee played on and awarded the goal.
Minutes later though, the Manics held together and equalised through David Comper. A throw-in was awarded in the BMW half. Blackman pushed forward to take, and Joel Curran flicked his throw on. The BMW defender intercepted the ball, but David Comper won the ball back off him and shot from far out on his right foot into the top corner of the net.
By the end of the first half, the Manics were beginning to find their feet, with shots from Wilcox, Comper, Sarney and Blackman all coming close.
Into the second half, and a few changes were made. Evans washed pushed on up front, David Comper switched to the left wing and Curran moved over to the right.
BMW had to make a substitution after 11 minutes when the player despite earlier treatment could continue no more. On the 16th minute, the Manics went ahead through Glenn Evans. Elliott Fairs won the ball in the BMW half, and Alan Morris dummied the ball. David Comper ran down the line, and crossed a low ball in. Morris was in space, but miss kicked the ball; Evans was at hand to finish it off - placing the ball in the bottom corner to make it 2-1.
Manics pushed on more and soon after another goal came. Gary Sarney sent Comper off running down the left wing, who floated the ball into the box at the back post. Joel Curran slid in to meet it on the volley and take the Manics ahead by 3 goals to 1.
Then on the 30th minute, BMW conceded an own goal. The referee confirmed the goal after BMW struggled to clear the ball off the line. With only 15 minutes of play remaining, the Manics made two substitutions. The first would be James Blackman who came off. Joel Curran dropped back to left back, and Aaron Goddard came on for the right wing. The other substitution would be a straight swap; Alan Morris for Chris Wilson.
2 minutes later and another substitution was made, and another straight swap, David Fenton for Brian Judge. The Manics battled on, more chances were had on goal, but the final score ended 4-1 to the Manics.
Well done to the fans who came to watch. Another fine performance from the boys in blue and white!
