Manics Steaming After Finch Turns On Heat

Happy New Year from all at BMFC. The Manics had all to play for this week to go top of the league with a win or draw against Finchampstead A.

Within minutes of play, Mark Robertson was on the score sheet with an early goal from another Joel Curran corner. Robertson volley the ball home in the 6yard box, and sent the Manics off on a one-goal lead.

The Manics were having the better of the second half, creating chances, but so were Finch, desperate to create a goal.

The second goal came from David Fenton just before the end of the first half. Spotting the keeper of his line, David Fenton launched the ball high into the box, also over a desperate keeper scrambling on his back foot back to his goal line.

No changes were made at the break, and Finch had decided to up the tempo of the game and push for their first goal. Within four minutes of the second half, Manics were under pressure, David Comper's clearance off the line kept them in the game.

FInch began to play good football and transformed in the second half, pushing up in midfield. Two goals followed on Finch's behalf, to draw them level 2-2.

Manics had plenty of chances, Paul Milner's header over the bar, one tee'd up by Robertson drilled staight into the keeper, and another shot high, but the Manics should be happy with the 1-1 draw, and another point in the league. Frustration on the Manics side was at an all time high this weekend, Milner was shown the red card for decent with minutes of the game remaining.

Plenty of chances for the Manics this week, but can they keep their grasp on the number 1 slot? Thanks to the fans for turning up to watch.
