February 2004 It would be the
local derby everyone wanted to see this weekend, Bracknell Manics
vs Dog Duck Embrook, in the quarter finals of the Gowrings Cup!
BENCH: Judge,
Wilson, Impey, Patsalides But again, a swift attack caught the Manics, and unluckily for the Manics a bobbling ball beat the Manics back four and put Dog's striker through on goal; it was 2-2. Then it came, a chance to take the two-goal lead. Aaron Goddard was pulled down from behind and the referee was at hand to award the penalty to the Manics. Gary Sarney stepped up to take, but the team couldn't believe it when Sarney struck the post and the ball came back out, followed by a Dog & Duck clearance. Just before the end of the half, David Comper was badly fouled, a poor challenge left Comper needing medical attention from the sideline. The game went into extra time, and feeling confident, Manics went out to get the early goal. So did Dog & Duck and a fierce start followed, but it would be Dog & Duck who would take the lead to make it 3-2. Then disaster
for the blues as more bad luck set in, this time a penalty would
go against the Manics, and Robinson couldn't stop the goal, Dog
& Duck would advance to the next round.
