Bracknell Manics had plenty to think about this weekend against
William Twigg Reserves, having beaten the side before; Manics
would have to work harder than ever to keep their grasp tight
on the division one league.
Bracknell Manics failed to get into the game for another consecutive
week of football. Simon Blay kept the Manics in the game with
a goal line clearance on the 20th minute. At the other end, Mark
Robertson and Barry O'Connell both had chances to score, but
couldn't seem to hit the target in front.
The second half brightened up more, Manics realised they had
to score at least one goal to take the lead, so they decided
it was time to play some football. O'Connell would be first to
score, David Comper assisting him on the 65th minute.
Manics were suddenly alive, and within a minute made it 2-0 when
Barry O'Connell passed to Elliott Fairs who carved through Twigg's
midfield before slotting it home.
Then, just a minute later, Twigg got one back after a clever
piece of football on their behalf. Just when you thought it was
all over - it wasn't and Twigg were back fighting again.
Twigg pushed more men forward, leaving space upfront, Manics
countered quickly, and respectively earnt themselves a penalty
kick after a handball in the box. Mark Robertson stepped up to
take, but Twigg's star 'Rhino' pulled off a good save to keep
Twigg in the game.
10 minutes later, Twigg then hit the post after a good effort
from their midfielder outside the box, and Manics were lucky
to escape with the lead. with the final whistle ending 2-1 Manics.
Thanks
to the fans who came to watch the game!
