Friendly vs Woodley Ham Res (Rdng)
- Result: Won 5-1
Bracknell Manics 1st Team
were missing players this weekend; some still troubled by injury and other
1st teamers still taking to a rather casual start to their 2005-2006 season.
But it didn’t matter, as fresh blood and other reserves players stepped
in to help out the side.
From the first whistle both sides were playing some good football, but
it would be Bracknell Manics who would take the lead. A determined run
and cross from Alan Matthias was met by David Comper who flicked the ball
over the keeper to Paul Milner who headed
the ball into the net.
Manics took advantage of the early goal and secured three more by the
end of the first half. David Fenton supplied a fantastic cross for Glenn
Evans to provide a firm diving header into the net, new boy John
Neale was another player to set up a goal for Milner
again, and birthday boy Barry O'Connell lobbed
the keeper just before break after a headed flick on from Matt Rain.
Into the second half, and it would be Woodley to turn the tables on the
Manics. A good spell of pressure to open the half, but Woodley missed
a handful of good chances to score and Manic keeper Chris Adams made some
good saves in the process. Adams then assisted Milner for his hatrick
with a well-distributed goal kick delivered straight into the path for
Milner to hammer home dipping the shot from
far out just under the bar.
Just before the end though, Manics gave away a silly penalty as challenges
seemed to become a little unfriendly. Woodley's keeper stepped up to take
and hammered the ball home from the spot to grab their consolation goal.
Scorers: Milner (3), Evans (1), O'Connell (1).
Assists: Comper (1),Fenton (1), Neale (1), Rain (1), Adams (1).
