Friendly vs DC Steamers - Result:
Won 10-0
Bracknell Manics 1st team
were back to full strength this weekend, and with a few new players in
the mix. Their opposition; DC Steamers, well established in the Reading
Sunday League, and last seasons victors over Bracknell Manics FC in the
Berks & Bucks Cup.
From the start Manics were looking sharp, early preparation meant the
Manics were focused and hungry to take the lead. It came after only 11
minutes of play, Paul Milner scoring wiith
his head from a Glenn Evans corner.
A minute later and Milner scored his second.
This time a defensive error and Milner intepted a bad pass and volley
the ball into the net.
Ryan Warman was beginning to impress when he went on a dazzling run, before
shooting over the bar. Then on the 25th minute Joel
Curran scored a wonder goal collecting the ball 25 yards out and
striking it against the upright and into the back of the net to make it
3-0.
Manics scored two more before the break, David Fenton
from a short corner and Gary Sarney after
a dubious offside decision by the referee.
DC carried on battling though and had a series of near chances in the
first half, but the Manics back four stayed strong cutting out numerous
through balls, and then playing the ball from the back.
DC came out fighting in the second, a good chance early on was saved and
then cleared by the Manics. But it would be Bracknell Manics who would
keep up the momentum, and went onto score more goals.
Gareth Jones scored from a Milner cross and
Sarney capitalised on a poor clearance to hit his second of the
day home.
A fine solo effort form Warman followed on
the 70th minute, collecting the ball in the Manics half, Warman dribbled
through the yellow shirts before tucking it sweetly past the keeper to
make it eight.
Manics made a few changes, Lee Blackman, Alan Matthias and David Comper
came on, with 20 minutes left Milner got
his hatrick off another Evans ball, and finally Matthias
grabbed a late goal to make it 10-0 to the Manics.
