Friendly vs Downshire Arms -
Result: Won 7-2
Bracknell Manics 1st team
had their final pre-season match this weekend against Downshire Arms.
Playing excellent football in the first half, Bracknell Manics went ahead
through Paul Milner, Gareth Jones with the
assist.
Next more pressure from the Manics; this time Ryan
Warman tearing through players before hitting his goal with his
right foot.
After another 15 minutes of play, Joel Curran
was in typical scoring fashion tapping in a goal from a John Neale assist.
Then, before the break the fourth followed, a bad piece of marking left
Gareth Jones to belt home the ball hard and
low in front of goal, Milner providing an assist.
Into the second half, Manics made a swap of position, Tony Hemley moved
to right back and newcomer Gavin Baker was moved into the middle. Curran
soon scored his second of the match connecting with another Jones cross.
But some dilly dallying defending caused some bother, and Manics soon
found themselves trailing by two rather quick goals, from Downshire's
striker and ex-manic Alan Tyrell.
With 20 minutes remaining, Gavin Baker made a retreat, and a hungry, yet
it appears still not 100% fit Simon Blay flew into the frame. Hemley was
pushed back into centre midfield alongside skipper Glenn Evans, with Blay
taking his old familiar right back role.
John Neale, found his shooting boots and
first lobbed the Downshire keeper, Milner creating the opening showing
good composure over the ball.
Next the best move for the Manics in the game, subsequently 10 or more
clean sharp passes and excellent running from the midfield, Glenn Evans
cut the ball back to Neale hitting the ball
hard and low first time leaving the keeper no chance.
Scorers: Curran (2) Neale (2) Milner (1) Warman (1) Jones (1).
Assists: Jones (3) Milner (2) Evans (1) Neale (1).
