Jimmy Ping Right On Cue With A 30-Yarder
The
Manics Res team continued their unbeaten season to 5 games, winning their
fourth game in a row! Manics started brightly and after 5 minutes James
Blackman twatted an effort from all of 35 yards from left-back
with the keeper having no chance, surely another nominee for goal of the
season.
Ten minutes later is was 2-0, Lee Blackman continued to roast the Oak's
left-back and crossed for Joel Curran to
head from 6 yards at the near post.
Again ten minutes later it was 3-0. Lee Blackman
ending up on a long-ball in the box and cooly slotting past the hapless
keeper.
After Manics got their third, missed chances began to happen with Chris
Wilson through on goal but saved and Curran blazing over the bar after
good work by Tony Hemley and hitting the post soon after. Royal Oak captitalised
and scored through their pacy striker.
After half-time, it was again frustration for the Manics forwards and
Harry Clowse. First Curran recieved a ball into the box and shooting from
an acute angel only to see it hit the far post and roll back across the
line to hit the other post with Wilson failing to poke it in.
Minutes later Clowse struck the ball well with the keeper pushing it onto
the bar and post and then saving the follow up from Curran. Changes were
made with Paul Miller coming on for Luke Phillips and Ben Westwood on
for John Hayward.
The game turned scrappy after a while and drama was to happen in the last
ten minutes. After Simon Blay came on for Clowse The Manics were to be
reduced to ten men after goalkeeper and captain Chris Adams was shown
the red card for handling outside the area and stopping a goalscoring
opportunity.
Lee Blackman took the gloves, but the resulting free-kick was wasted and
Manics easily held out for the remaining minutes.
Manics were glad to get 3 points, but disappointed with only scoring 3
and the sending off of captain Chris Adams..
