Even 'Jesus!!!' Can Save The Manics
After
last weeks 3-2 defeat at the hands of The Manics Reserves, Prince Of Wales
were keen for revenge. It was a good game. It was a close game.
The Manics started brightly, a clever through ball by David Fenton gave
this seasons top scorer Lee Blackman the
opportunity to score with a sweet lofted effort to make it 1-0. The Prince
replied swiftly to equalise.
Manics took the lead again through David Comper
only to be pegged back once again by a determined Prince side. Manics
restored the advantage with another goal from the prolific Lee
Blackman, slotting home from Westwood’s incisive pass to
make it 3-2.
However, the resilient Prince equalised for the third time, a goal that
ruffled the Manic feathers. The Prince were now in the ascendancy and
their pressure paid off as they took a 4-3 lead with 20 minutes remaining.
Manics struggled to draw level as chances went frustratingly close.
Not even captain Chris Adams’ cries for “JESUS!” could
assist the boys in blue and white. He rose for the corner for all our
sins which lead to the Princes 5th goal. This left “Jesus!“
to suffer the defeat with all his team. Alan Matthias sat forlorn…his
hair telling sorry tales.
If the Prince felt that last weeks score flattered the Manics, then the
shoe was certainly on the other foot as the Manics took nothing from a
game from which they deserved more…
