Reignites Manics Fire
The season is delicately poised. Winning this game would see the Manics
top the table for the first time this season. It would give the players
a boost going into a title showdown against second placed FC Priestwood.
Two new injury setbacks greeted the team. David Fenton had suffered a
broken arm and Manic legend, Brian Judge had snapped three fingers.
The Manics team spirit had been stoked the night before during a fantastic
night of revelry at The Golden Farmer. This spirit was still simmering
on a spring Sunday morning which saw the return of striker, Chris Wilson.
It was passion that caused Brian Judge strap up his fingers with masking
tape and don the blue and white strip, such was his desire to play.
It was pure fire that raged through Chris Wilson
as he rasped the ball with venomous force into the bottom left hand corner
of the net early on in the game to make it 1-0.
Welcome back was the cry. The players united in a frenzied display of
angry glee. The face of 70’s cop, and Bracknell Manics Manager,
Nikos Patsalides, printed on Wilson's t-shirt under his Manic jersey was
displayed to all 22 players on the pitch plus fans on the touchline as
he celebrated his comeback with style.
As the game panned out it was Manics, all Manics. Strong in every department,
Reeves were unable to register a shot all game.
And then a wonder goal, Jimmy Ping who the night before had chosen to
miss out on certain glory redeemed himself with a wondrous dink to Wilson.
On the edge of the area Wilson showed some marvellous awareness with a
clever flick to the in form, Lee Blackman
who took a touch before rocketing the cleanest of half-volleys into the
back of the net to the delight of Manics players and fans making it 2-0.
A comfortable win over a lacklustre Reeves side was completed to set up
a match that dreams are made of. Bring on Priestwood.
