Manics achieve A* from
first exam
So here
we are at last after months of hard work the first game of the
season. The A team have been training hard and really looking
like they have started to gel.
Manics started the game with a 4-3-1-2 formation. Right from
the kick off the Manics pressured the opponents all over the
park forcing them to just kick the ball out of play or back
to us. Good wing play from Steve Jones putting Nathan Plumbridge
in on goal with a half volley flying just wide of the far post.
It did not take long before Plumbridge
did score his first goal for the club with a clever finish just
in side the area after a good team move 1-0.
The Manics really stepped up a gear after scoring dominating
play with skipper Cole pulling the strings in midfield battling
hard and bossing his team. Jack Clarke
scored with a great strike to make it 2-0.
As hard as they tried Axfield could not unlock the Manics defence
with Luke Phillips winning everything in the air as well as
being composed with the ball at his feet. It was Phillips claming
the assist for the next goal as his long ball caused allsorts
of problems in the Axfield defence. Amidst the confusion the
ball fell to Gary Sarney who coolly
despatched the ball in to the corner of the goal, 3-0.
Just before the half time whistle Manics would strike again.
A great move which included good play with player manager James
“Ping” Blackman and left centre midfielder Ben Taylor
delivering a fine ball to tricky forward Jack
Clarke to register once again! 4-2
Manics
wanted some of what Axfield were drinking, as they come out
the second half like a different side. Axfield got their reward
5 minutes later with there striker clean though on goal lobbing
the on rushing goal keeper 4-1. The Manics for their efforts
could not get a grip on the game when Axfield slid another ball
through to the same player who blasted the ball past Jason Graaff
between the sticks 4-2. After an inspiring talk from the manager
and captain the Manics came straight back in the game with Nathan
Plumridge scoring from 5 yards out, a real poachers goal
but it must be noted any one of four players could have put
it in. Real good support for the front men 5-2
Hayward
WAS the “biggest player on the pitch” and got stuck
in straight away showing why he is pushing for a start. By winning
his midfield battles and also showing his determination by chasing
a long ball everyone else gave up on Hayward beat the keeper
to nod home a well dissevered goal 6-2. The on form forward
Jack Clarke braking away from the
Axfield defence slotted home with a controlled curling effort
(a great debut and a great hat trick) 7-2.
The Manics started to enjoy the game now using all players and
getting Left wing back Nick Flemming and right wing back Wayne
Woodman involved in attacks It was good link up play with Nick
Flemming that got super sub Luke Carter
away on the left wing beating two players with his pace and
with a deft lob scoring what must go down as finish off the
game 8-2.
That’s how it stayed a brilliant start for the Manics
A, let’s hope it continues.
Man of the match hat trick hero Jack Clark wont think about
playing so well in future after getting the feared yard of ale
down the Bridge. haha!
